We are preserving tissue for future research.

The Iowa Residual Tissue Repository is an ongoing effort of the State Health Registry of Iowa to preserve and catalog cancerous tissue samples for use by researchers.

Tumor samples from more than 50,000 patients make up the repository. There are many cancer types represented in the repository, with samples drawn from tumors located throughout the body. Each sample is documented with the pathology reports that led to their discovery and the treatments used in their removal.

Together the samples and medical records create a powerful resource for population-based research about the origins and spread of cancer types.
